| Hi.
That's me, Susanna, on one of my honeymoons!
I'm proud to say that I'm the editor of this website. And I'm even
happier saying that in the year and half that this website has been
live, I help thousands and thousands of brides and grooms every single
month!
I wasn't always an online editor, or editor of any
sort before starting this website. In fact, it was in the middle
of wedding planning, when the idea for this site was born.
As a former event planner I was experiencing wedding
planning from the brides perspective. And, like many of you, I was
sometimes stressed and overwhelmed. I just knew that there had to
be a better and more realistic way to plan a wedding!
The
Inspiration For K.i.s.s
It wasn't long into the planning that I learned even
my years of event coordination behind me that wedding planning has
some very particular challenges!
While working as an event planner,
I always followed the mantra "keep it simple stupid", and
naturally tried
to apply
this to the planning of my own wedding.
But, what I was realized is that planning your own
wedding isn't like planning someone else's event. Like you and every
other bride, sometimes I was stressed
and overwhelmed.
Let's face it... It's an industry that breeds anxiety in people-pleasing
brides with a love for aesthetics.
A few months into planning I had a revelation. I was
stressed out and confused and running around doing all of the things
that
didn't
matter
to
me.
It wasn't
simple
and
it wasn't "us". It was literally a light bulb moment! I didn't
want to keep it simple stupid! I wanted to keep it simple + special!
You
got, I wanted to K.i.s.s ;)
So there you have it, I decided not to sweat the small
stuff (the things that didn't matter to me) and focus on what did.
I forgot about all the "should's" and focused on being gracious,
creative, and "me".
What
Does K.i.s.s Mean to You?
The hype is what the industry is all about. It's
how they make so much money and charges us twice as much for their
products and services!
There's this general feeling that if you don't do
this or that or have this or that, you're wedding will totally
suck and people will hate you and think you're rude and unappreciative
and and and...
Ugh....
..... it's
just toooo much! The pressure can really get to you - especially
if you don't want to spend a fortune and don't have a lot of
extra time for planning.
There are some things, like being gracious and polite
which are important, no matter what. But, some things aren't that
important.
- If you don't want a cake
cutting ceremony, don't!
- If you don't want 500 family photos,
don't!
- If you don't want a first dance, don't!
You don't have to do anything
other than feed your guests, thank them, and make them
feel like they were a part of a really special day between
you and your
partner!
Just decide what's important to YOU! Forget the "should's:
And, since you're a polite person and you and your partner love
each
other
that'll
be a cynch!
K.i.s.s
Today
These days, I spend my days interviewing wedding
professionals (planners, cake designers, etc) and scouring the
web and local suppliers for great new ideas. Then of course, I
design my pages and and share helpful tips, ideas
and advice with you.
I'm here to help
you plan the perfect simple
+ special wedding.
No hype,
just
plain
old good
ideas for normal people who love beautiful things and want
a lovely wedding. Let's all agree to avoid all the crazy stuff
that can often surround it! It'll be so much better if you do!
If
You have Passion You Can Become an Online Editor Too!
Like I said, I wasn't an online editor or editor
of any sort before staring this site. Like most people I fantasized
about it :)
One day, in the middle of planning of my wedding,
when
this idea was just a small seed in the back of my mind, I came
across the success story of a normal man who started a kids birthday
party site with his sister and became hugely successful. It convinced
me to
at
least
give
it a try.
Interestingly, about a year after starting this
site, I met that very same man!
His
name
is
Elad. He traveled all the way from
Israel to talk to up-and-comer's like me. We ate dinner (burgers
and ribs), I showed him around the Toronto Beaches area, and we
hung out a coffee shop just chatting away. It was 6 hours after
meeting
when
we parted
ways and he continued his journey.
He's a down to earth, normal, and very
successful. You can read more about Elad's
personal journey by clicking here.
You can also read more about my
personal journey here.
