Planning a Backyard Wedding
The Secret to Perfect Backyard Wedding Planning
Planning a backyard wedding? Are you overwhelmed? If so, it's no surprise!
With the budget considerations and all the advice for designing your backyard wedding it can quickly overwhelm anyone.
While it may seem simple at first, once you really start the backyard wedding planning you will find out there's more to a backyard wedding than you might have thought about.
What to Think About When Planning a Backyard Wedding
You have the location and a great price, but now you have to figure out how to make it wedding-worthy. Some of things you will have to consider when planning a backyard wedding are yard grooming, catering, tents, chairs, and a wedding coordinator to help with your plans. All this is in addition to the regular wedding plans!
You may have saved money on the location, but for high end backyard wedding planning with a low-end budget, planning a back yard wedding may eat your budget quicker than you think. For the cost of a formal wedding with a tent, linens and seating, the price gets driven up quickly.
When To Reconsider Backyard Weddings
If you are working on a budget you might want to compare the cost of an all inclusive wedding at a nearby location, and do the math. Sometimes it is less expensive to let the professionals handle all the details, since it's a full time job for them. It's certainly less stressful than planning a backyard wedding for the bride!
If you are artistically inclined and enjoy setting up a catered site, then by all means do the backyard wedding planning. Some backyards offer a picturesque view that can rival a botanical garden. Here are a few things you will want to keep in mind when planning a backyard wedding before making your decision though.
General Planning for Backyard Weddings
Number of Guests
How many guests are going to attend? How will they be seated? Is your yard level enough to accommodate the seating for them?
Your guests will also need access to the restroom. Make sure that the wedding site has close access to a bathroom - or more than one with multiple guests.
Parking
Where will everyone park? Make sure that you plan this out, and have someone to direct parking. Spots need to be clearly marked for everyone so that the lawn doesn't get ruined. Check with the local government to find out laws for parking on the street.
Rain Plans
Outdoor weddings are beautiful, but every outdoor bride knows there has to be an emergency rain plan. If you have made sure that you have a durable outdoor tent, there won't be a problem staying dry - even though it might be soggy getting to the tent - but make plans in case you get rained out. If you have to move the festivities inside the home, make sure you can still accommodate all your guests.
Renting the Tent and Supplies
Research the cost of the tent well ahead of time, and make sure that you have a plan for decorating. You will also need to have tables, chairs, and linens. If your wedding is catered, speak with your caterer about how they will need the reception area set up.
Planning a wedding in your backyard can be done. There are many examples of backyard weddings plans that are beautiful and classy. When you want an intimate setting where memories will be built, an outdoor wedding in your family's backyard can be a beautiful and memorable event.
Just make sure that you start planning fully aware of the inflated costs associated with doing it yourself - and then decide if you want to deal with the stress and cost. Some people are more inclined to making a "Martha Stewart" wedding, while there are the rest of us who would rather leave the planning to the pros.
